Announcing “SAPPHIRE” A San Carlos United

Girls U11 CY Team

Announcing the formation of “SAPPHIRE” A San Carlos United Soccer Club, Girls Class 3 Soccer Team. We are looking for players to form a team for the Spring and Fall CY Seasons. We will be conducting a one day try-out on Saturday Feb 9^th at Stadium Field in San Carlos from 10:00- 12:00.

The team will work in conjunction with “Azzuri” the current Girls U11 Class 1 team Coached by Basil Said. The plan will be to have the girl’s experience a spring season of CY Soccer and to participate in innovative practice sessions with the Class 1 team. After the spring season is over we will evaluate all players and place them at their appropriate skill and experience level.

Stronger players from Sapphire might be invited to move up to play with the Class 1 team.  Azzuri players needing more development time will have the option of joining Sapphire. This will provide the opportunity for each player to play at their appropriate competitive environment and continue to grow in their skills by providing playing time opportunities.  

An important aspect of the team is to limit the roster size in fall in order to provide playing time for each player. Spring will be tryout for fall and fall will be a tryout for spring. The team will be mostly compromised with San Carlos residents, but is also open to players from neighboring cities.

The team will be Coached by Sergio Palala and Mike Sanders with Kim Williams as Team Manager.

Age group: Girls born between 8/1/96 – 7/31/97

With these goals in mind, we are looking for coach able players who:

      -  Love to play soccer and compete

-  Have a positive attitude and teamwork spirit

-  Are aggressive, fearless and with strong inner drive

-  Show focus at practices and in games

-  Don’t mind practicing and playing hard

-  Maintain regular attendance to practices, games and tournaments

-  Consider soccer their first priority but enjoy other sports/activities as well

For those interested, but cannot make the try-out date other arrangements can be made for your player.

Please also note that all coaching and managing staff is working on a volunteer basis and in order to continue to keep the costs down we will be asking for parent job duty participation. Parent participation will be considered in the forming of the team.
